Bible Story Craft for David and Jonathan

Bible Story Craft for David and Jonathan

Materials:

1. For Jonathan’s bow and arrow; brown construction paper, or brown and grey felt pen, paint or crayons., or cardboard and string

2. For the bushes, green construction paper, or green and brown felt pens, paint or crayons.

Instructions:

1. Trace the bow and arrow onto the brown construction paper, color the tip of the arrow grey.. or if you would rather, trace the bow curve onto cardboard, make holes in either end and attach string. Make three arrows, because Jonathan shot three arrows.

2. Trace the bushes on green construction paper, color in brown stems..

Tell the children how King Saul was very angry with David, and so Jonathan who was David’s dear friend and the son of Saul, told David to go hide in the bushes and Jonathan would come with a young boy to where David was hiding. Jonathan would shoot the arrows and if the arrows landed close to David then it was safe and if they landed far away then David had to go away. Tell the children how Jonathan shot the arrows far away, and that David and Jonathan wept together and said goodbye. Tell them that Jonathan said to David “The LORD be between you and me and between my family and your family forever.”
